Watch the work. Read the limits.

A small, source-led watchlist for studying how AI and hybrid moving-image work is being made. It is not a ranking, a festival endorsement, or a clearance catalogue.

Selection method

A viewing link is the beginning of a record.

Each entry has a creator or official-festival route to the work, a reason to study it, and a line between what its sources actually say and what they do not establish.

Community discovery is deliberately limited: r/aivideo supplies a creator-posted process record; a r/StableDiffusion festival discussion is context only, not evidence or an editorial signal.

Links go outward. Screen Method does not host, download, embed, or claim rights in these films.

These are the festival's original film posters, not Screen Method commissions. They are present only in this noindex review; reuse permission remains for the owner to resolve.

Curated film records / 10

Different evidence, different confidence.

Festival selection can verify a programme record. A creator page can describe a workflow. Neither replaces independent rights, provenance, or quality review.

01 / 2024 / HYBRID

Get Me Out / 囚われて

Study the hybrid handoff: live-action capture, 3D environment work, and transformed image treatment.

Why selected
A specific, source-attributed workflow instead of a vague “made with AI” label.
Workflow evidence
VentureBeat reports the filmmaker named Luma, Runway video-to-video and ComfyUI in the production.
Limit
Creator-reported process details are not a repeatable quality or clearance guarantee.

02 / 2024 / ANIMATION

Pounamu

Study concise, non-dialogue narrative structure rather than model spectacle.

Why selected
A 2024 festival record useful for asking what a short can hold without explanatory dialogue.
Workflow evidence
The official programme establishes the work, creator, runtime and selection context.
Limit
No detailed process disclosure was retained in this review.

03 / 2024 / HYBRID

e^(i*π) + 1 = 0

Study the formal contrast between filmed performance and generative image construction.

Why selected
The work has a distribution/festival record plus an unusually concrete process note.
Workflow evidence
mk2 describes generative software combined with live action, AI-assisted voice translation, and ideation.
Limit
“Several tools” is not a single-model claim; terms and source assets still need project-level review.

04 / 2024 / COMMUNITY DISCOVERY

4 Minutes to Live

Study a creator’s public account of a tightly constrained weekend build.

Why selected
A Reddit discovery record includes direct creator replies about story, time, voice and tools.
Workflow evidence
The creator describes a Midjourney-to-Runway route, 48-hour Gen:48 constraint, human writing and their own voice.
Limit
Community self-report only; inclusion does not certify rights, originality or an independently verified workflow.

05 / 2025 / ESSAY FILM

Total Pixel Space

Study how a film can make a conceptual question about image space carry through a full short.

Why selected
2025 Grand Prix record with independent cultural-context documentation.
Workflow evidence
ACM Interactions identifies Adler and the Grand Prix; it is not a complete technical breakdown.
Limit
Use the official archive or creator channel if playback changes; no local copy is retained.

06 / 2025 / DOCUMENTARY FORM

JAILBIRD

Study a documentary-shaped premise built from a storyboard-to-generation process.

Why selected
The creator’s own project page describes the framing and the production route.
Workflow evidence
Salter says illustrated storyboards were described to AI, then refined and edited; end drawings are the stated exception.
Limit
Creator description only. Subject claims, training data, and permissions remain outside this record.

07 / 2025 / NARRATIVE

ONE

Study a medium-length narrative entry within the 2025 official programme.

Why selected
A named work with creators, runtime and 2025 Silver context.
Workflow evidence
Official programme listing only.
Limit
No detailed workflow claim is made in this review.

08 / 2025 / SHORT FORM

More Tears Than Harm

Study what the programme makes visible—and what it leaves undisclosed.

Why selected
A named 2025 honoree broadens the sample beyond prize-winning feature-like forms.
Workflow evidence
Official programme listing only.
Limit
No process, rights, or clearance claim is inferred.

09 / 2026 / NARRATIVE

A Face Only A Mother Could Love

Study a current programme’s use of a contained comic premise and stated runtime.

Why selected
2026 Grand Prix record with public creator, synopsis and runtime.
Workflow evidence
Official programme listing only.
Limit
Festival selection does not establish technical process, rights, or generalisable results.

10 / 2026 / ANIMATION

THE WELL

Study a current short-animation record with an explicit mystery premise.

Why selected
2026 Gold record included for form and programme contrast, not as a quality ranking.
Workflow evidence
Official programme listing only.
Limit
No creator process disclosure was captured for this review.

Editorial boundary

Selection is not a substitute for clearance.

Every record needs a fresh rights, context, and source check before it becomes a published profile. The programme artwork above is a local visual-review aid only: obtain permission or replace it before public release.
